Cheap Lenovo S10-2 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - Up To 6 Hours Of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter)

Just got it today. It is pinker than it seems in the picture (I thought it looked sort of lavender). It's nice and tiny and light. The battery helps position the computer so that it sits up off the work surface and can breathe. The Windows 7 thing seems to be great so far: a lot better than Windows Vista. I'm not sure if it says anywhere in the description, but it comes with Word installed, which makes my life as a student much easier. I'm not a computer expert by any means, but from what I can tell, this easily will serve its purpose as an extra machine to take notes on and take to the library. It's very quick on the Internet, as well. A great deal for the money...as far as I can see.

The netbook hardware is nice. The keys are very slightly cramped but this is dictated by the convenient small size. The touchpad with multi-finger control is a great feature. The only drawback is Windows 7 Starter edition. There is almost nothing you can do to customize the desktop. You can't change the color or background picture. The Mac folks must be loving Microsoft's philosophy on this one.

  • Disney Netpal By ASUS - 8.9-Inch Princess Pink Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life

Disney Netpal By ASUS - 8.9-Inch Princess Pink Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life

I did a lot of research before deciding to purchase this product Disney Netpal by ASUS - 8.9-Inch Magic Blue Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life for my family. One of the reasons I bought this over the Nickelodeon/Dell netbook - or another netbook brand - was that it is advertised that the RAM can be expanded up to 2GB. Asus does not offer factory upgrades. When I got the Netpal in this week, the warranty states that it needs to be serviced by an authorized repair shop. So I called to Tech Support and asked them about the upgrade. They said they don't recommend the 2GB RAM upgrade, won't do it in their service centers, and that it would void the warranty. EVERYWHERE on the internet it is advertised that it can upgrade to 2GB RAM. Make sure you consider this before purchase. I am not really happy with this purchase. I can't even get the some of the links on the Disney site to work. [...]. is very content rich and many of the links to videos and games just won't load.

HP Mini 311-1000NR 11.6-Inch Black Netbook - Up To 6.25 Hours Of Battery Life

Lets be honest about most computer users. They are not running Call of Duty 4 and they are not running photoshop. What most users want in a Notebook can be found in this Netbook. The LCD back lit screen is gorgeous to work on. It provides plenty of real estate to easily navigate a web page as well as work on document.

I chose the Mini 311 because of the ION graphics. Now with Adobe Flash 10.1 Beta you can watch HiDef Hulu in full screen with no stutter.

Its the perfect take with you computer, its light weight, long battery life while still managing to pack quite a punch thanks to the ION graphics. I recommend this for anyone looking for basic computing on the go. I have two desktops to supplement this device but I have yet to encounter a task that the HP Mini 311 has failed to accomplish.

I use the Mini 311 for work where I deal with network infrastructure. I use it at school where I am continuing my education via the Cisco Networking Academy and other IT related courses. If this fits your profile and are sick of the 10 lbs notebook then you will not be disappointed in this netbook.

I only wish these had been around when we got my mother a laptop.

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005HA-MU17-PI 10.1-Inch Pink Netbook - 8.5 Hours Of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter)

Got the pink system in for my wife's birthday, just in time. Only problem is after less than an hours use the screen blanked out.

After the mandatory hour on the phone with tech support the system is considered DOA, frustration. Amazon will replace it for me much faster than ASUS.

    Cons
    System is unusable

    Pros
ASUS tech support was accessable and helpful
Amazon will replace the unit and handle all shipping.

Acer AOD250-1633 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - Up To 9 Hours Of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter)

I just received this little life-saver last week, and so far I could not be happier! Great price and quality. It has everything I need, and is light enough to take with me everywhere. Fits right into my handbag. I have even tethered it to my mobile phone for 3G service when wireless is not available. Windows 7 Starter is fantastic; lean in the sense one can't change themes, but I personally don't care about that.
If you are looking for a fast, QUIET, little lappie to keep with you at all times (and are tired of outdated XP), then this is a great choice! The video runs Hulu and other streaming video just fine!! No memory increase necessary, either.

I recommend on start-up that one removes all of the Acer 'Junk-Ware' that comes pre-loaded on this machine.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X-BK 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 10.5 Hour Battery Life

This product is everything it appears to be and more. The netbook is ultra-portable, easy to use, convenient, and high quality. I'm a graduate student, so I use the item primarily for word processing, e-mail, and web surfing. I can sit at a coffee shop and work for hours without worrying about plugging it in. The battery can easily last 8-11 hours, depending on your usage. I've taken it to half a dozen locations and have had zero problems getting fast, high quality wireless connections. It is well balanced and sturdy. The keyboard is very comfortable and doesn't feel cramped at all. In some reviews I read complaints about the right and left click buttons being integrated into one button. (It's one long silver button with the right and left end acting like the two buttons of a mouse, somewhat like a teeter-totter.) The button is a bit odd but not a substantive drawback. In fact, the only fault I have noticed with this model is a tendency to get fingerprints on the glossy exterior. They wipe away easily, but it's something to be aware of.

Cheapest Acer AOD250-1613 10.1-Inch Black Android/XP Netbook - Up To 9 Hours Of Battery Life

While I am certainly curious to hear the other reviews about the android platform on a netbook, my experience so far has been great. I have had no problem setting up accounts or internet connections. I am writing this review while working off the android OS. Boot up time into android is 10-15 seconds plus another 3-4 to find a network. All told, you can go from pushing the power button to surfing the internet in under 30 seconds! Pretty cool. I would like to see what the battery power difference is if you are working solely in android.

I will readily admit that I know nothing about android and today is my first experience using it. I will leave it to the experts to discuss the good and the bad of android on the netbook. However, I can attest to the rapid boot up time.

So, as the title says "So far so good!"

For those who are wondering, you can change the wallpaper. You'll have to install System Setting Utility from ASUS which can also be used to change wallpaper at timed intervals automatically.

Despite what the other reviewer claims, in the end he reviewed the wrong product. Even though it is similar, it is not the same. There is definitely hardware changes to the Windows 7 version.

I really like this netbook pc. I wanted something small enough to be able use it like the larger leg warmers and not have to feel like I'm lugging a brick around all the time. This fit the bill perfectly. The sleeve that came with this looks to be good quality and well padded, I wouldn't spend the extra money on another one. I might upgrade the memory, but at the moment it seems sufficient enough for what I need.

The netbook uses the GMA950 integrated graphic chip. You can overclock these with the GMA Booster to 400MHz. I also read the netbook is stable if overclock to 1.9GHz, but I haven't tried it. The Eee Super Hybrid Engine which controls the preset power modes do adjust CPU clock speeds depending on mode. If you plan on upgrading memory, I suggest you spend the extra $3 for the 800Mhz FSB module which is more compatible when in super high performance mode.

Windows 7 runs pretty good on this netbook. The starter edition doesn't seem at all limited to me. I'm able to get around the wallpaper limitation and connect to my home network easily with desktops using Vista. I am just glad Windows 7 starter's run 3 applications limit wasn't imposed, it would have been the deal breaker. Wikipedia has a list of what isn't available in this edition and to me, it isn't worth spending extra to upgrade to the next edition.

Also Amazon Prime is great, $3.99 for overnight shipping. Can't beat that.

UPDATE: On this version, you can pretty easily change the logon wallpaper also. Just navigate to C:WindowsSystem32oobeinfoBACKGROUNDS and replaced the image with one with the same name, resolution, and no more than 256kb.

After using the netbook a few days, I find this OS does a good job on memory usage. My Vista machines are memory hogs and I'm probably going to upgrade those now.

  • Asus Eee PC 1005HA: small, cheap ... Wonderful!

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA Blue Netbook Windows 7 Starter
It 'my review so I thought I'd talk about a product that I love, my new Eee PC!
Last year my old laptop, which has accompanied me during the college years, has suddenly stopped working. Since work already to the computer eight hours a day at the office and saw that I did not want to spend money, I decided not to buy another. Until they began to appear in these little netbooks Asus! The early models had only a few GB hard drive, but then their characters have grown more and more until you get to this gem!

This is a netbook with 1GB of RAM and 160GB of Hard Disk. As operating system Windows XP up to Windows 7, and it offers wireless connectivity, 3 USB ports and card reader. Has also an integrated webcam. In my opinion you can play virtually all the functionality of a traditional notebook and costs about 300 euros! A girl I know has bought a few weeks ago and as soon as I saw it I said 'I have it too! "... And I rushed to buy it!
Aesthetically I think it is great! It has a 10-inch screen and weighs just over a pound, I bought one of those cases "second skin" and drives him around safely under his arm, or even a handbag! I remember when I went to university as I struggled to carry around the computer in classic black market for PCs, from shoulder to shoulder ... as I would have liked to walk around with a small netbook like this, always carrying in her bag without fear to let him rob me on the bench! To go around I think is very practical to have a computer of this size, you can use it easily by train or car when traveling ...

And another big plus is the short battery life, up to 8.5 hours of battery life! You can make entire trip without having to attack on tap! Obviously the length depends on the use made of it, the brightness of the screen etc, but I can safely use it to 7 hours without attack on tap!
Only drawback in my opinion is that these little netbooks do not have an integrated CD player, but it can carry data on USB sticks, or use external optical drive ... I also believe that it is not suitable if you want to use the games for pc, because its graphics are too high for these netbooks.

In summary, if you look for a cheap computers to surf the Internet, chat, video, music, download photos, write emails, documents or presentations, or if you need to work by train or car and you are often on the move ... I recommend this course wonderful as economic netbook!
